Solana Price Sees Strong Institutional Support Amid Governance Votes
Solana's price has reached around $101 on Monday after a 3% decline in the previous day, testing the psychological support level of $100. The SOL-focused Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) have seen significant inflows over the past week, with over $150 million in investments last week alone.
This surge in institutional demand is reflected in the strong performance of SOL ETFs, which recorded nine consecutive days of inflows. Typically, such a trend indicates long-term growth and increased demand from large-wallet and retail investors as risk appetite grows.
On the network side, Solana validators have voted to double the disinflation rate to 30% and implement a new governance framework. However, the proposal for usage-based fees was rejected, which could have led to nearly 9,000 daily SOL burns. The overall outcome of these governance votes is seen as positive, favoring better structuring and disinflation for long-term growth.
From a technical perspective, Solana's price remains well-supported above the 50-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA), which sits at $85.05, and other key moving averages. However, momentum has eased slightly, with the Relative Strength Index (RSI) down to 67 from overbought conditions.
The next notable hurdle for Solana's price is the December 18 low of $116.88, representing a significant structural barrier to any extended rally. On the downside, immediate technical support is found at the February 1 low of $98.02 and then at key moving averages.
