Solana Price Soars 26% in Seven Days as Trading Volume Skyrockets
Solana's price jumped 26% in just seven days to $94.84 on August 22, driven by increased trading volume that rose fourteenfold. This impressive move dwarfs the latest exchange-traded fund (ETF) creations, which drew about $24.65 million over two days, representing only 0.2% of Solana's weekly market-value increase.
The first slot-time cut is live, reducing the target from 400 milliseconds to 350 milliseconds, a 12.5% decrease. This reduction aims to reduce confirmation latency and help market makers quote tighter spreads. However, the immediate price response was twice the percentage size of the first technical reduction, indicating broader positioning.
Solana climbed alongside other major cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ether, which also posted unusually large weekly gains. The synchronized move followed a broad crypto rally, exchange-traded fund buying, and short covering. However, risks remain as Solana's price can reverse quickly if ETF creations fade or crypto leverage unwinds.
