Solana Sees 5.4 Million AI Agent Payments in Seven Days
Solana's machine economy is gaining momentum as AI agents begin to make recurring payments on the platform. According to PayAI, BlockRun completed approximately 5.4 million agent payments over the past seven days on Solana.
These microtransactions have low individual values but represent a significant frequency of calls and settlements, not unique users or revenue. The focus is now on tracking repeat usage rates, payment use cases, and actual service delivery.
Agent payments differ from human payments as machines require 24/7 operation, automated authorization, low-cost settlement, and auditable records of tasks and payments. Solana's performance advantages are leveraged in high-frequency, small-amount, programmatic executions.
Audrey's own view is that AI agents will prove their value by demonstrating a willingness to pay after a task is completed. The most valuable metrics to track now are agent revenue, repeat purchase rates, and tangible outcomes tied to each payment.
