Solana Sees Record Transactions Amid 87% Revenue Collapse

Solana processed a record-breaking 5.2 billion non-vote transactions in August, surpassing July's count by 19%. However, this milestone came with a significant drop in revenue, as gross network revenue fell to $141 million in the first half of 2026 from $1.09 billion a year earlier.

According to 21Shares, the decline in revenue can be attributed to weaker competition for blockspace. Priority fees and Jito tips, which were responsible for 95% of H1 2025 gross revenue, contracted as memecoin traders paid less to move ahead in crowded blocks.

The trading mix also changed, with memecoins falling from 40% of Solana spot trading volume in H1 2025 to 16% in H1 2026. In contrast, stablecoin swaps rose from 6% to 19%. The categories replacing memecoins generated less revenue per trade.

Despite the decline in revenue, validator fee data improved by late August, with Solana Compass reporting a seven-day average of around 9,200 SOL ($99.62) per day, more than 80% above three months earlier.
