Solana Sees Surge in Stablecoin Issuance as Circle Mints $250M in USDC
Circle's USDC Treasury minted $250 million in USDC directly on the Solana blockchain on August 20, 2026. This fresh issuance represents a significant boost to liquidity, and it's not an isolated event. In fact, within a single week during mid-to-late August, roughly $1.25 billion in USDC was minted on Solana.
The transaction is trackable in real-time through services like Whale Alert, which broadcasts large on-chain transactions to market participants. Circle operates under a strict 1:1 model against USD reserves, meaning every token minted corresponds to a real dollar sitting in a custody account.
DeFi activity on Solana has been a significant pull factor for the increased demand. Liquidity pools require deep stablecoin reserves to function efficiently, and institutional desks routing dollar exposure through on-chain venues have contributed to the demand signal Circle is responding to.
