Solana Slashes Blockchain Slot Time by 50ms to 350ms
Solana has achieved a significant milestone in its efforts to improve blockchain performance. According to Solana Foundation's vice president of technology, Jacob Creech, the network has successfully reduced its slot time to 350 milliseconds.
This marks the first reduction since the inception of the network and is part of a larger plan to bring down average slot times from 400ms. The goal is to reach 200ms in four stages, with each stage reducing the slot time by 50ms.
The Solana Foundation has shared plans to implement these reductions on mainnet through Agave v4.2, a validator client developed by Anza. However, it's worth noting that the schedule is tentative and subject to change.
