Solana Smashes Records with 171M Daily Transactions

Solana's network has achieved an unprecedented milestone by processing 171.9 million non-vote transactions in a single 24-hour period on August 10. This marks not only a new record for Solana but also a significant increase from its previous all-time high of 169.9 million transactions set just six days earlier.

The distinction between 'non-vote' and total transaction count is crucial, as it excludes validator consensus messages that are essentially the network talking to itself. This leaves only activity that reflects real users doing real things on the platform.

In recent months, Solana has seen a steep increase in daily transactions, with nearly 24 million additional transactions per day since January 30 when it hit 148 million non-vote transactions. The weekly numbers are equally impressive, with over 1 billion non-vote transactions recorded in the seven days leading up to August 10.

The significant spike in volume is largely attributed to a technical upgrade implemented by Solana, which increased the maximum compute limit per block by 66%. This upgrade has essentially widened the network's capacity to process more transactions without creating bottlenecks.
