Solana Speed Boost: Network Cuts Slot Time to 350ms Amid South Korean Tokenization Plans
Solana has made a significant breakthrough in its engineering efforts by reducing its slot time to 350 milliseconds. This marks the first such reduction since the network's launch and represents a step towards faster blockchain activity.
According to Jacob Creech, Solana has entered a new era of 350ms, with a target of achieving 300ms soon after. A shorter slot time is crucial as it affects how quickly the network moves from one slot to the next.
The upgrade comes at a time when Solana is witnessing a shift in its network activity, making speed improvements essential. For SOL holders, this development adds another point of interest as the Solana price eyes a possible $100 retest.
However, there's also a mixed picture for the Solana price outlook. The network fees have fallen 44% in Q2 2026 to about $50 million, which is a sharp decline from its earlier highs. This creates tension between faster network speeds and lower fees.
Solana is gaining attention from South Korea as well, where Shinhan Asset Management is developing a KRW-denominated tokenized fund modeled after BlackRock's BUIDL. The planned pilot aims to cover fund issuance, distribution, compliance, blockchain infrastructure, and onchain liquidity.
