Solana Speeds Up 25% Following Governance Vote
Solana's on-chain governance vote has concluded, resulting in significant changes to the network. The first binding on-chain governance vote was held, and as a result of it, the network experienced a 25% increase in speed. Solana validators passed the network Constitution and Double Disinflation, formalizing governance rules and reducing annual issuance. This development is part of Solana's efforts to improve its infrastructure and adapt to growing user demands.
Several other notable developments have taken place on the Solana platform this week. Kamino introduced Fixed Rates in private beta, allowing for fixed-term, fixed-rate on-chain borrowing and lending. Other projects, such as Marvell Technology ($MRVL) and @solflare, launched new features and services on the network. The total value locked (TVL) on Solana surpassed $50M, with tokenized commodities supply reaching a record high.
Solana has also seen significant growth in user adoption, with RWA holders surpassing 350K and daily active addresses reaching 5M. The network processed 1.32B non-vote transactions in a week, setting a new all-time high. Solana memecoins hit $5.2B in weekly spot volume, marking a 2026 high.
