Solana Surges 5% as Firedancer Validator Client Launches Mainnet
Solana's price surged by 5% this week after Firedancer, a validator client developed by Jump Crypto, launched on its mainnet.
The client completed over 100 days of controlled testing and transitioned from test environments to live validation.
Firedancer uses C and C++ to handle high transaction loads and reduce network downtime risks, with test environments reportedly processing over 1 million transactions per second in controlled conditions.
Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko described the launch as an exit from the network's extended beta period, while noting that adoption remains limited - Firedancer nodes control less than 1% of total staked SOL. However, more than 20% of validators switched from earlier experimental clients in December.
The performance of Firedancer will be crucial for Solana's infrastructure upgrade, with the potential to open capacity for transaction-heavy applications and benefit validators and developers alike.
