Solana Surges as Network Prepares for Upgrade
Solana's price has surged 13.45% over the past 24 hours and 13.90% over seven days, reaching $87.94. The token broke out of a consolidation range between $74 and $77, and its recent advance placed it near its swing high at $87.33.
The Solana network will also see a significant upgrade on August 21, reducing its clock interval from 400 milliseconds to 350 milliseconds. This change could enable applications to process transactions more frequently, but its impact is still uncertain.
Derivatives positioning remains cautious, with open interest falling sharply from its September peak. If SOL breaks above $87.33 with strong volume, it may enter a new price-discovery phase. However, a decline below $84.48 could expose the token to $82.25 and $80.68.
The moving-average structure confirms strong short-term momentum, with SOL trading well above its 20, 50, 100, and 200 EMAs. The recent breakout also created a series of higher highs and higher lows, but traders could see additional volatility after such a rapid advance.
