Solana Surges Past $100: Traders Boost Price Targets Amid Governance Proposal
Solana's price surge past $100 has led Kalshi traders to reevaluate their expectations for the rest of 2026. The seventh largest cryptocurrency by market cap jumped more than 15% in the last week, outperforming its major peers Bitcoin and Ethereum.
The rally has significantly altered the probability that Solana will reach higher price targets this year. Kalshi traders now see a move above $160 at 35% and a stretch to over $190 at 18%, as SOL continued to climb throughout the week.
The new Solana governance proposal, SGP-0002, was passed by validators on Friday. This proposal will accelerate the rate at which Solana's issuance rate declines, doubling the disinflation rate from 15% to 30%. As a result, the timeline for Solana's network to reach its desired inflation rate of 1.5% has been brought forward to 2029 instead of 2032.
Kalshi traders now forecast an end-of-year price of $124.40, an increase of more than $22 in the last week of trading. The odds for Solana finishing the year above $100 have also increased by 23% in the last week, sitting at 74%. However, the chances of a much higher finish like above $150 are lower, with odds at just 20%.
