Solana Surges Past Top CEXs in Decentralized Exchange Volume

Solana's decentralized exchange (DEX) volume has surpassed major centralized exchanges (CEXs) for five consecutive weeks in 2026, according to data from DeFiLlama. The trend indicates a shift towards DEXs in the crypto market, with Solana leading the charge.

The combined spot trading volumes of Bybit, Coinbase, and Kraken have been lower than Solana's weekly volume for five weeks now. Only Binance trails Solana in total spot trading volume. This trend is a significant shift from 2023-2024, when CEXs dominated the retail flow.

The growth of Solana's DEX volume can be attributed to concentrated liquidity, lower fees, and the revival of developers around Solana natively memecoins, perp DEXs, and token launchpads. This trend is forcing CEXs like Bybit, Coinbase, and Kraken to adapt and risk losing market share.
