Solana Surpasses 1 Billion Transactions in a Week Amid Tokenized Gold Boom
Solana has achieved a major milestone in its scalability efforts by processing over 1 billion transactions in a week. This feat was made possible by two significant network upgrades that have been gaining momentum.
The deflationary upgrade, which is currently in its final voting stage, and SIMD-0525, which has gone live on testnet, are expected to improve the network's performance even further. The latter update, for instance, has already reduced slot time from 400 ms to 350 ms, marking a crucial step towards achieving a 200 ms slot time.
The results of these upgrades can be seen in Solana's on-chain activity. According to data, the network processed a record 1,012,226,009 transactions between July 27 and August 2. This marks a significant increase in transaction throughput and reinforces Solana's core strengths, including high TPS, low-latency finality, and its ability to handle large volumes of activity.
Solana has also made notable gains in the tokenized gold market, with its growth rate outpacing other major L1s. Over the past year, Solana's tokenized gold market cap has increased by a whopping 689% on average, with month-over-month growth reaching 18.8%. This is more than twice the growth recorded by BNB Chain and roughly four times that of Avalanche and Ethereum.
