Solana Surpasses $3T in DEX Volume, Tokenized Equities Boom
Solana's rise as a dominant platform for tokenized equities continues to reshape investment landscapes, challenging traditional finance and other blockchains. The network's DEX volume has surged past $3 trillion in cumulative volume, highlighting its growing influence in crypto markets.
On September 11, DraftKings' tokenized stock DKNG hit $39 million in volume on Solana within just three hours. This comes after tokenized ETF deposits into DeFi venues surged 19 times to $68 million, demonstrating a shift towards integrating traditional finance with decentralized platforms.
The surge in DEX volume is attributed to the network's ability to handle high-throughput applications efficiently. Solana combines proof of stake with proof of history, speeding up transaction ordering and timestamps. The supply of SOL tokens is not capped, allowing for new issuance over time to reward staking, with issuance declining on a set schedule.
Solana's Alpenglow upgrade is nearing, which will bring significant changes to the network's consensus mechanism. Validators must adapt to ensure network stability, and the transition marks a pivotal shift in Solana's development.
