Solana Tokenized Assets Surpass $4 Billion as Network Speeds Up Block Times
Solana's tokenized assets have surpassed $4 billion in value for the first time, according to data reported on August 23. This milestone marks a record for the blockchain's RWA sector, which encompasses tokenized versions of traditional financial instruments including equities, treasuries, private credit, and commodities.
The network has also rolled out a technical upgrade that cuts block production time by 12.5%, reducing its target slot time to 350 milliseconds from 400 milliseconds. This is the first step in an improvement proposal that aims to reach a block time of 200 milliseconds.
Solana now accounts for 97% of all tokenized equity trading volume across blockchain networks, underscoring its early dominance in this niche market. The network has pitched itself as a low-cost, high-throughput alternative for issuers testing tokenized products.
