Solana Trenches Revive with Record Token Launches
The Solana network has seen a surge in token creation on its launchpads, with over 313,000 tokens created in just one week. This is the highest weekly total for the network in roughly 19 months, marking a return to what's known as the 'trenches', a chaotic environment where new tokens are launched and traded at high speeds.
The majority of these token launches originated on Pump.fun, a platform that has dominated Solana's memecoin launchpad scene since its debut in early 2024. The platform uses bonding curve mechanics to allow anyone to create and launch a token with minimal friction.
Pump.fun has generated hundreds of millions in revenue since its launch, with each new token launch generating fees regardless of the token's success. However, the graduation rate for tokens launched on these platforms is extremely low, roughly 1% or fewer achieve meaningful sustained liquidity or trading activity.
The surge in token creation and trading volume has tangible effects on the Solana network itself, with every transaction generating fees. Solana's memecoin spot trading volume hit $5.2 billion in a recent week, the strongest reading since late 2025.
