Solana Triples Transaction Capacity as Ethereum Eyes Stablecoin Fees
Solana's transaction capacity has been increased to triple its previous limit, from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes. This change is part of a technical update called Transaction v1 (SIMD-0296 and SIMD-0385) that aims to improve the blockchain's scalability.
The new transaction size limit on Solana will allow for more complex operations to be performed in a single transaction, such as large crypto proofs, payments requiring numerous approvals, and certain confidential transfers. However, this change also requires wallets and other services reading the blockchain to update their software to recognize the new v1 format.
Meanwhile, Ethereum is working on its own upgrade called Hegotá, scheduled for 2027, which will allow users to pay transaction fees in stablecoin without holding ETH. This move aims to simplify the user experience and make it more accessible to a wider range of users.
