Solana Upgrades Mainnet to Boost Block Capacity 66% Amid $80 Price Target
Solana has completed a major mainnet upgrade, increasing block capacity by 66% with the SIMD-0286 update now live. This change allows for more transactions and smart contract activity to fit into each block before it becomes full.
The higher limit gives the network about 66% more room to process activity in every block. According to Solana data, the compute unit limit for each block has been raised from 60 million to 100 million. This increase could help trading platforms and other decentralized apps handle a lot of transactions during busy periods.
The upgrade does not change how people use Solana crypto, but it allows the network to handle more activity as more users and projects come onto the blockchain.
