Solana Validators Get New Revenue Stream with Jito BAM Preconfirmations
Solana validators have gained a new way to earn money without upgrading their hardware. On September 9, Jito rolled out its BAM preconfirmations system, which lets validators sell early access to committed transaction data to traders who want speed. The launch on September 9 quickly attracted more than a third of the network's total staked capital.
The feature uses Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) to process data in isolation and enforce privacy mandates during transaction sequencing. This helps reduce room for harmful MEV extraction while still letting validators earn from their position in the network. The revenue model splits three ways: 30% goes to distribution partners, 35% to BAM validators, and 35% to the Jito DAO treasury.
Traders gain a 5-10 millisecond latency advantage at the p50 mark, which is useful for arbitrage and market making strategies. Market makers can update quotes faster, while arbitrageurs can act on price discrepancies before slower competitors catch up. Liquidation bots can trigger positions with more precision.
The payout mechanics are expected to start in October 2026, roughly a year after BAM first reached early mainnet.Validators who already run AgaveBAM or FireBAM clients can participate automatically once the update is live, without needing any additional hardware beyond a software client upgrade.
