Solana Validators Send Priority Fees to Block Producers

On Solana's blockchain, validators have approved a rule change that sends all priority fees to block producers. This is after switching on native on-chain governance in July.

The base fee, which splits evenly between burn and validators, remains unchanged for now but could be revised with the new governance framework.

Some Solana developers are pushing for a resource-based redesign of the base fee, where it scales with the resources consumed by transactions. This would make the baseline cost reflect real load, bandwidth, compute, or account locks.
