Solana Widens Lead Over Ethereum with Transaction Capacity Upgrade
Solana has upgraded its transaction format to allow for larger transactions, increasing the maximum data allowed from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes. This upgrade aims to address a major structural bottleneck and help the network narrow the gap with rival platforms like Ethereum.
The new Transaction V1 format went live on Tuesday at approximately 01:00 UTC, according to the Solana Foundation. This change concerns how much each transaction can carry, rather than how many transactions Solana processes per second.
With the increased capacity, developers will have room for more complex trades, company-wallet approvals, and privacy applications. The upgrade also enables more complex, all-or-nothing operations, which were previously restricted by the smaller data limit.
