Solana has closed its bug bounty competition for the Alpenglow upgrade after receiving over 300 submissions from security researchers worldwide. The Alpenglow upgrade aims to reduce transaction finality times on Solana's network from 12.8 seconds to between 100-150 milliseconds.

The bug bounty, organized by Anza, targeted critical components within the Agave validator codebase and offered a reward pool of up to 50,000 SOL. The competition ran from August 5 to August 19, with each vulnerability report filed privately using GitHub Security Advisories.

The Solana Foundation will now assess the validity and severity of each submission, with payouts following Agave's existing bug bounty policies. Rewards will be calibrated based on how severe the bugs turn out to be, with the full 50,000 SOL pool only accessible under specific conditions.
