Solana's Network Fee Revenue Drops 44% Amid Cooling Memecoin Activity
Solana's network fee revenue fell to approximately $50 million in Q2 2025, marking a 44% decline from the previous quarter. This significant slowdown comes after the network reached its peak performance, when quarterly fee revenue reached around $900 million between Q4 2024 and Q1 2025.
The decline is largely attributed to reduced memecoin trading activity, which had been driving network usage and fee generation earlier on. Both base fees and priority fees decreased as a result of this cooling trend. Additionally, Jito MEV tips saw a notable reduction, contributing further to the overall decline in network revenue.
The slowdown suggests a return to more sustainable, albeit lower, activity levels after an exceptionally active period. During the peak, Solana benefited from a surge in retail participation and high-frequency trading of memecoins, generating substantial fee revenue.
