Solana's Raydium Dominance Sparks Gas Fee Slump, Meme Coins Flee to Tron
Solana's decentralized finance (DeFi) landscape is shifting rapidly. The Raydium decentralized exchange (DEX) has taken a significant lead, capturing a whopping 60% market share, while overall DeFi activity cools off and meme coins start fleeing towards Tron.
According to DeFiLlama data, the total value locked across major blockchains sits at $77 billion. Ethereum still dominates, but Solana's making strides. Raydium's user base is exploding, with over 200,000 active users daily, as shown by Artemis data shared on X.
Additionally, Solana's daily active addresses have hit an all-time high, boasting an average of 5.5 million daily active users. The blockchain's base layer scalability is giving it an edge over Ethereum and its layer-2 solutions, which require sequencers or fault-proof systems.
However, despite the growth in user base, gas fees are plummeting. As of September 7, fee revenue hit a six-month low of $414,000, a significant drop from the $5 million seen on March 18. This decline is partly due to Pump.fun's lost momentum, its fees have nosedived by over 80% since late July.
Meme coin enthusiasts aren't disappearing; they're just relocating to Tron. The blockchain's new launchpad, SunPump, is picking up where Pump.fun left off.
