Solana's Real-World Asset Tokenization Reaches $7 Billion Milestone
Real-world asset (RWA) tokenization is transforming traditional assets like Treasury bills and investment funds into blockchain-based tokens. Solana, a leading blockchain network, is a key player in this market.
The process starts with an issuer identifying an underlying asset, such as a share in an investment fund or a Treasury security. The issuer then creates blockchain tokens representing defined rights to that asset. Solana's tokenization infrastructure is built around the Token-2022 program, which includes features like transfer restrictions and account freezing.
Solana supports compliance for tokenized assets through transfer hooks, allowlists, and permissioned environments. This allows regulatory controls to operate alongside blockchain settlement. The result is a model where blockchain settlement remains programmable while regulatory restrictions can still be enforced.
The RWA market on Solana has reached $7 billion in tokenized value across 2,693 assets. Twenty-four-hour real-world asset volume recently reached approximately $290.6 million. Products include tokenized Treasuries, public-market funds, ETFs, commodities and equities.
