Solana's Slot Time Reduction Sparks Market Momentum
The Solana network has made significant progress in reducing its slot time to 350 milliseconds from 400, as part of a four-step plan to reach an ultimate goal of 200 milliseconds. This update is not just about improving transaction confirmations for crypto users but also shows the team's commitment to innovation and improvement. The current reduction does not increase the network's overall capacity but instead slices time differently.
The slot time reduction has been welcomed by the market, with SOL surging above $91, driven by seven consecutive weeks of ETF inflows and the US Treasury's announcement to extend its debt buyback operations. This technical update coincides with a real resurgence of interest in Solana, with the token climbing over 19% this week.
The three remaining steps towards reaching the target slot time are planned to be implemented separately, with each step being 50 milliseconds apart. However, developers want to observe how the network handles the current update before moving forward.
