Solana's Testnet Sees First V1 Transactions as Upgrade Nears Launch
Solana's testnet has seen the first V1 transactions as part of its upgrade to allow for atomic processing of complex operations. On September 1, Anza initiated the transaction on the testnet, marking a key rehearsal before the mainnet launch on September 9.
The upgrade, which increases the maximum size of a Solana serialized transaction from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes, will enable developers to process multiple operations in one single atomic transaction. This change is expected to simplify complex DeFi workloads and reduce the number of transactions required for processing.
According to Solana Compass, the upgrade will also make it possible to implement zero-knowledge proofs, large multisig transactions, and various signature schemes that were previously unachievable within one transaction.
The change has been met with enthusiasm from developers, who see it as a major improvement for DeFi applications. However, RPC operators have been given a week to update their infrastructure to accommodate the new format, which is opt-in for now but will become mandatory after the mainnet launch.
