Solo Miner Hits Jackpot with $200,000 BTC Prize Amid Coldcard Storm
A solo miner has won a significant prize in the Bitcoin network, defying statistical odds. The miner solved block 960,804 via CKPool and earned 3.15689830 BTC (approximately $200,000). This is the 317th block found solo via this service.
The peak hash rate of 100 PH/s represents only about 0.011% of the total computing power on the Bitcoin network, making the odds of hitting a block at this rate extremely low. In fact, for a hobbyist with a single 100 TH/s machine, which is one thousand times less powerful, their chances drop to about 1 in 62,750 per day.
This jackpot comes amid the turmoil caused by the Coldcard hack, which has resulted in losses of over $114 million. Despite this, the Bitcoin network continues to operate independently and produce blocks at a rate of one every ten minutes on average.
