South Florida Man Pleads Guilty to $245M Cryptocurrency Theft Scheme

Share

A South Florida man, Malone Lam, has pleaded guilty to participating in a $245 million cryptocurrency theft scheme. The operation, which involved an international cybercrime network, targeted cryptocurrency holders through deception and online gaming.

Lam, who also used aliases such as 'Anne Hathaway,' '$$$,' and 'King Greavy,' allegedly organized the operation and identified victims. He coordinated the roles of other conspirators in the scheme, which began no later than October 2023 and continued through at least May 2025.

The group used stolen cryptocurrency to fund a lavish lifestyle, including luxury watches worth over $500,000, exotic cars valued as high as $3.8 million, private jets, and luxury clothing and handbags.

Lam was arrested in September 2025 at his rental home in Miami. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro stated that investigators will continue pursuing individuals involved in the alleged cryptocurrency theft network.
