South Korea Embraces Tokenized Securities with Regulatory Support
South Korea is taking significant strides in the digital asset market by allowing tokenized stocks, bonds, and funds. The move aims to redefine how financial products are traded and aligns with global standards.
Mirae Asset Securities and Korean Investment & Securities are leading the charge, making strategic inroads into the digital asset segment. They believe that cryptocurrencies and tokenized securities will transform the industry.
The country's financial regulator is working to introduce an official market-making regime for digital assets, aiming to curb extreme price swings and align the cryptocurrency markets with international equity trading standards.
Additionally, Mirae Asset Financial Group is in talks to acquire Korbit, South Korea's fourth-largest cryptocurrency exchange, in a deal estimated at up to 140 billion won ($97.5 million). This move marks the financial group's expansion into the digital asset market.
