South Korea Sees $367M Stablecoin Outflows as Overseas Platforms Gain Attraction
South Korea's stablecoin outflows reached 560.3 billion won ($367 million) in June, marking the 18th consecutive month of net outflows, according to Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) data cited by Yonhap News Agency.
The FSS figures show that South Korean exchanges both exported and imported large stablecoin volumes in June, with exports exceeding imports. This trend suggests that users are seeking access to products available on overseas platforms, such as derivatives and decentralized finance (DeFi) offerings.
Market participants attributed the cross-border stablecoin transfers to practical differences between local and offshore venues, pointing out that domestic platforms may not offer comparable products under current rules.
