South Korea's largest bank, KB Kookmin Bank, has partnered with JPMorgan to launch a cross-border payment service using blockchain technology. The new service will allow corporate clients to make international payments faster and more cost-effective. This marks the first time a South Korean bank has used JPMorgan's Kinexys network for import and export payments.

The service, which is set to launch next month, will initially prioritize US dollar transfers and cover 10 countries including the USA, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, India, Thailand, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and South Africa. KB Kookmin's move aligns with South Korea's vision to increase its influence in the global blockchain ecosystem.

The bank has already developed stablecoin projects with Avalanche (AVAX) and is now raising the bar in institutional payments. The integration of traditional finance with blockchain is gaining momentum, with other payment providers in South Korea also working on similar networks.
