South Korean Stablecoin Outflows Hit Record 18-Month High
South Korea's largest cryptocurrency trading platforms have seen significant stablecoin outflows in June, marking the 18th consecutive month of net stablecoin withdrawals from the country. According to Yonhap News Agency, the five major platforms recorded a net outflow of 560.3 billion won (approximately $367 million) in June.
The total transferred stablecoins were worth 2.7625 trillion won, while the received funds totaled 2.2022 trillion won. This trend has persisted since January 2025, with no signs of slowing down.
The outflowed stablecoins are primarily used for cryptocurrency and stock derivatives trading, real-world asset (RWA) products, decentralized finance (DeFi) services, and staking offerings not available on domestic exchanges.
