SpaceTrade Diversifies into Everyday Payments and Utilities
Nigeria's SpaceTrade is shifting its focus from cryptocurrency trading to everyday payments and utility services. The company aims to broaden digital-asset adoption among Nigerians by making it easier for them to use cryptocurrencies in their daily lives.
SpaceTrade's new strategy includes expanding its services to include airtime purchases, electricity bill payments, gift cards, and other financial utilities. This move marks a broader attempt to move digital assets from investment and trading activities into practical transactions used by consumers.
Oluwatobi Odunaiya, chief technology officer and co-founder of SpaceTrade, said the company is placing greater emphasis on education through its digital platforms and blog, where users can access information explaining cryptocurrency and digital assets. The company is also targeting younger Nigerians through a campus ambassador program aimed at building familiarity with digital assets among university students.
