SpaceX's Investor Forum Descends into Chaos Ahead of Earnings Call
SpaceX's recent attempt to engage with investors through an online forum has been met with a mixed response. The company set up the platform, built using its AI tool Grok, to allow shareholders to submit questions for Elon Musk and other executives ahead of the rocket company's first earnings call since its record-breaking IPO in June.
However, the forum has been filled with a variety of posts, including some that are promoting cryptocurrency tokens, memes, and even plushies. One of the top-voted posts asked if Asteroid, SpaceX's Shiba Inu mascot, would be going to Mars, while another suggested expanding the line of plushies for $35.
The forum appears to allow anyone to sign up and submit questions, making it unclear how many of the posts are from actual investors. Some serious questions were also asked, including queries about SpaceX's plans to test orbital refueling of its Starship rocket and progress on the company's contract with NASA to return humans to the moon.
SpaceX is gearing up for its first major test as a public company, with Morgan Stanley analysts expecting the company to post a $1.7 billion loss for the quarter. The end of SpaceX's lock-up period is also approaching, with around $100 billion in stock set to become available to trade.
