Sparrow Wallet Sees AI-Powered Security Update to Protect Against Exploits
Sparrow Wallet, a privacy-focused Bitcoin wallet developer, has released version 2.5.4 after an AI-assisted code review uncovered several security fixes. The review was prompted by the release of unrestricted Chinese AI models and the ability to search large codebases for potential exploits.
Craig Raw, Sparrow's developer, said the review produced most of the update's fixes, with only a few issues not related to the AI-assisted review. He found no signs of exploitation, but recommends updating users' wallets as a precautionary measure.
The update strengthens BitBox02 hardware-wallet security and requires firmware version 9.4.0 or later. It also redacts Bitcoin Core credentials from debug logs and restricts access to wallet and backup directories.
