Spot Bitcoin ETF Inflows Surge to $1B Amid Coldcard Security Concerns
US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) experienced their best week since April, with $1 billion in net inflows, according to Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas.
This rebound in demand marks the third-best weekly performance since last October, a period referred to as Bitcoin's 'silent IPO.'
The 'silent IPO' concept suggests that investor selling behavior and ETF demand can interact to keep price action subdued relative to capital inflows.
A recent security incident involving Coldcard, a hardware wallet developed by Coinkite, has raised concerns about self-custody. The exploit reportedly resulted in the theft of about $116 million worth of Bitcoin.
Balchunas noted that the Coldcard hack could help drive some investors toward spot ETFs, as it highlights the trade-offs between self-custody and regulated products like ETFs.
