Spot Trading Volume Surges as Bitcoin Approaches $80,000
Bitcoin's surge towards $80,000 has been accompanied by a significant increase in spot trading volume, which has quadrupled to 3-4 times previous levels. This indicates that more traders are participating directly in buying and selling Bitcoin.
CryptoQuant reported on September 4 that Binance is taking the largest share of this increased spot trading volume. The surge in spot volume also coincided with a tripling of altcoin deposits into exchanges, suggesting that activity is not limited to Bitcoin alone.
Meanwhile, large investor inflows into exchanges have also accelerated, exceeding 2,000 BTC per hour and averaging over 50 BTC per deposit. However, it's essential to note that sending Bitcoin to an exchange doesn't necessarily mean a sale has occurred, as assets can be moved for various reasons such as sales preparation or trading.
The increased spot volume and investor inflows raise questions about potential supply pressure in the market. While this data suggests broader participation from traders, it also leaves open the possibility of additional supply entering the market.
