St. Louis Trio Charged in Kidnapping Plot for Bitcoin Heist
Three men from St. Louis, Sedric Louis, John Davis, and Martel Williams, have been charged in connection with a kidnapping plot to steal Bitcoin worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
The indictment alleges that the trio was part of a larger scheme coordinated by others, who had brought them in to do the dirty work on the ground. The plan involved forcing their way into a Connecticut home, threatening the occupant, and coercing him into transferring the stolen cryptocurrency to accounts controlled by the scheme's organizers.
The men traveled from St. Louis to Connecticut, gathering supplies including air rifles and walkie-talkies before abandoning the operation due to fear of being caught on camera. A separate crew arrived later to carry out the same plan, which ultimately ended in a violent carjacking and the arrest of six men.
