Three St. Louis residents were part of a plot to kidnap a cryptocurrency investor and steal millions in Bitcoin, according to federal charges.

Federal prosecutors unsealed an indictment against Sedric Louis, John Davis, and Martel Williams for their alleged roles in the plan.

The trio allegedly traveled to Connecticut with rental vehicles and air rifles, waiting outside the target's family home before another crew from Florida arrived to carry out the kidnapping on August 25.

The intended victim had previously participated in the theft of $245 million in Bitcoin, according to investigators.
