$STABLE: The Token Without a Purpose
The STABLE token is the native cryptocurrency of StableChain, a proof-of-stake network that uses Tether's USDT as its dollar-pegged stablecoin. Unlike other tokens, STABLE does not fuel transactions or provide unit accounts for the chain's products. Its primary functions are security and governance.
In terms of security, validators on the network stake STABLE to earn rewards and maintain the chain's integrity. This token is essential for the network's security budget, which is denominated in STABLE and funded through emissions. The design of StableChain deliberately excludes STABLE from user interactions, except when it comes to governance.
The token's governance role is managed by the Stable Foundation, an independent body that oversees grants, ecosystem programs, and protocol votes. Tokenholders have voting rights, which influence real parameters such as fee policy, gas-exempt allowlists, validator-set rules, upgrade schedules, and treasury allocation.
