Stablecoin Adoption Soars Past 300 Million Users as Dollar Banking Goes Global

Share

Stablecoins have seen unprecedented growth in the past year, with over 300 million unique users accessing dollar-pegged tokens. This number is based on analytics firm Artemis's tally of unique on-chain addresses transacting in stablecoins.

The figure represents a significant milestone for the industry, especially considering that retail crypto trading has cooled down in recent times.

According to Patrick Kim of Artemis, this growth is running opposite to the trading market. 'The total addressable market is much larger on the stablecoin side than the crypto side now,' he said.

The adoption of stablecoins is driven by payment companies and consumer apps rather than traditional exchanges. This shift is due in part to regulation, with initiatives like the Genius Act and Europe's MiCA providing clear guidelines for the industry.

Companies like Rizon are at the forefront of this trend, offering dollar banking services in 122 countries within just 65 weeks. The app has also seen significant user growth, with 280,000 users and $120 million in annual payment volume.
