Stablecoin Card Spending on Track for $50 Billion Boom
Global stablecoin card spending is projected to quadruple by 2028, reaching $50 billion annually, according to RedotPay. This forecast comes as stablecoin card spend hit a record high of $1 billion in July, based on data from Paymentscan.
The Hong Kong-based firm cited the growth in Latin America and Africa as key drivers of this trend, with real payment pain, easy access to stablecoins, strong fiat off-ramps, and regulatory clarity contributing to the rapid adoption.
RedotPay's co-founder and head of partnerships, Jonathan Chan, noted that the fastest-growing markets are not necessarily those with the highest crypto penetration. The company's own total annualised payment volume currently stands at over $14 billion, including top-ups and card spends.
