Stablecoin Cross-Border Payments Show Promising Results, FCA Says

Share

The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has concluded its Stablecoin Sprint, gathering feedback from banks, payment companies, and crypto firms on the use of stablecoins in cross-border payments.

Participants identified cross-border transfers as the strongest practical application for stablecoins, particularly in markets with limited access to U.S. dollars.

The FCA said UK consumers have little incentive to switch payment methods, as existing systems already provide fast and low-cost transactions.

However, merchants could benefit from lower costs and faster settlement offered by stablecoin payments, especially where payment delays or intermediary fees remain an issue.
