Stablecoin Dominance in Argentina Reflects Widespread Dollar Demand
Argentina continues to show strong cryptocurrency adoption. A recent report from a16z highlights the growing role of stablecoins in the country, particularly dollar-pegged stablecoins such as USDT and USDC.
The data reveals that these stablecoins account for 94% of peso-denominated crypto trading volume, making Argentina's stablecoin share among major currencies tracked by Artemis the highest.
This trend is significant because it shows that Argentinians are using stablecoins not just as a hedge against inflation but also as a means to gain exposure to the US dollar.
