Stablecoin Payments Set to Soar to $56.6 Trillion by 2030
Stablecoins are poised to become a major player in global finance, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. The research firm predicts that stablecoin payments could reach $56.6 trillion by 2030, representing an annual growth rate of approximately 80% over the five years leading up to then.
This projected surge is driven by increasing institutional adoption and growing usage in economies facing inflation and financial instability. USDT remains the most widely used stablecoin for everyday payments, business transactions, and savings, while Circle's USDC dominates decentralized finance platforms.
The rise of stablecoins has been accelerated by regulatory developments, with Canada and the UK renewing efforts to implement stablecoin frameworks in 2026 or the near future. Western Union is set to launch a stablecoin settlement system on the Solana blockchain during the first half of next year, while MoneyGram and Zelle are rolling out similar solutions for faster cross-border payments.
With institutional adoption accelerating, stablecoins are poised to become an integral part of mainstream finance worldwide. The current market capitalization of stablecoins stands at $312 billion, with the U.S. Treasury estimating that it will reach $2 trillion by 2028.
