Stablecoin Reserves Plummet to $64B Amid Record-High Supply
The stablecoin reserves have plummeted from $80 billion to $64 billion, resulting in a 20% decline in exchange liquidity. This reduction leaves centralized venues with less dry powder for spot buying than they had near the late-2025 peak.
In contrast, Binance has increased its share of total reserve from nearly 60% to 68.5%, giving it significantly more control over deployable stablecoin liquidity.
The overall supply of stablecoins is at a record high, with an average of approximately $310 billion, according to DeFiLlama. This is way above the $64 billion currently sitting on centralized exchanges.
Two large stablecoins, Tether and USD Coin, make up about 83% of the stablecoin market. Much of this capital now supports self-custody, DeFi, payments, and other on-chain activity instead of exchange order books.
