Stablecoin Spending via Crypto Cards Surges to $1.04 Billion in July
The use of stablecoins in daily life has surged significantly over the past year. New data from Paymentscan, shared by a16z, shows that spending via crypto cards tripled to $1.04 billion in July 2026, with more than 10 million tracked transactions.
Dollar-backed stablecoins funded around 70 percent of these transactions, with USDC holding the largest share at 50.8 percent and USDT at 20.3 percent. This is a significant increase from last year's rates of 48 percent and 7 percent for USDC and USDT, respectively.
The average payment amount also rose from $59 to $86 during this period.
