Stablecoin Supply Drops $414M as DEX Spot Volumes Soar
The crypto market's stablecoin supply saw a significant drop of $414.38 million during the week of September 7 through 13, according to on-chain analytics firm Lookonchain's latest weekly report.
However, this decline in stablecoin supply is not necessarily a cause for concern. In fact, it may be a sign that investors are converting their stablecoins into other assets, rather than abandoning them altogether.
The report found that decentralized exchange (DEX) spot trading volumes rose by 7.95% week-over-week, while perpetual trading volume fell by 7.78%. This suggests that some investors are taking advantage of the current market conditions to buy and sell cryptocurrencies.
Publicly traded companies also continued to accumulate Bitcoin, adding a net 1,615 BTC during the week, valued at approximately $126.15 million. The Michael Saylor-led firm Strategy reported no net change in its BTC holdings for the week, while Bitmine scooped up 27,180 ETH valued at around $68.19 million.
